Winnie, Kemp’s Ridley

Yesterday evening, GWMI received our newest patient. Measuring at about two feet in length and width, this adult Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle was found floating abnormally by a fisherman in St. Joe Peninsula State Park. Our partners with USGS in Cape San Blas retrieved and brought the turtle to meet our staff for a transfer. The patient has already received bloodwork and radiographs, which showed a large amount of food in the intestinal tract. As we keep you updated on her progress, we’d like to introduce “Winnie” (Winifred Sanderson)!”
