Gulf World Responds to Lethargic 145 lb Loggerhead Sea Turtle

Gulf World Marine Institute responded to a stranded sub adult loggerhead sea turtle Friday, July 29th. The sea turtle, Buc, was discovered by a Panama City resident who reported that the sea turtle was floating and struggling in Johnson Bayou. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was there to assist in the rescue of the sea turtle. It is at Gulf World being treated and we are currently waiting on test results for a proper diagnosis. Buc is lethargic at this time with large amounts of parasites on its carapace. This may be a sign that the animal has been ill for some time. The turtle is receiving excellent care and we hope that it will recover successfully. We will keep you updated on its progress.
